Chinese Teapot: Control, Balance, and Gongfu Inspiration
A Chinese teapot is designed for precision. Think compact volumes, quick pour, and a spout that pours gently. This style perfectly complements gongfu brewing: multiple short infusions where aromas build layer by layer. In this collection, you'll find Chinese teapots in materials such as porcelain, ceramic, and clay, depending on the flavor experience you seek.
Why choose a Chinese teapot?
- Compact and efficient: ideal for repeated, short infusions.
- Pure aroma due to excellent temperature control and easy pouring.
- Perfect for oolong, pu-erh, and aromatic black tea.
Buyer's Guide: How to Make the Right Choice
1) Material and Flavor
Porcelain remains very neutral (see porcelain teapot). Ceramic provides a warm, stable infusion (see ceramic teapot). Clay (such as Yixing style) can "season" over time; discover more about this with clay teapot.
2) Gongfu Setup
Complete your experience with a Chinese tea set and small teacups for precise tasting.
3) Filter & Clear Pouring
For loose leaf tea, a good filter is important. Optionally combine with a tea strainer if you want extra fine filtering.
Usage Tips
- Work with shorter steeping times and multiple infusions.
- Preheating helps maintain a stable temperature.
- Use quality water; it truly makes a difference with delicate teas.

How do I clean my teapot and accessories?
Maintenance advice:
- Rinse with lukewarm water after use and dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Porcelain / Glass / Stainless Steel: mild detergents only; light descaling (water + a little vinegar), then rinse thoroughly.
- Cast Iron (enameled): do not wash in dishwasher; avoid thermal shocks; dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
- Clay (Yixing type): rinse with clear water only (no detergent); use one teapot per tea type.
- Copper: interior tinned/stainless steel — rinse and dry immediately; polish exterior occasionally if desired.
Always consult the specific instructions on the product page if they differ.
How do I choose the right teapot?
The choice depends on the type of tea (green/white, oolong, black, pu-erh), the volume (solo, duo, family), and the material (neutral porcelain, visual glass, heat-retaining cast iron, clay for characterful tea, robust stainless steel).
