Clay Teapots: Characterful, Heat-Stable, and Made for Depth of Flavor
A clay teapot is cherished by tea lovers who want to experience deeper flavors. Clay retains heat evenly and can – depending on the type – develop a subtle "seasoning" over time. This makes these teapots particularly suitable for oolong, pu-erh, and full-bodied black tea. In this collection, you'll find clay teapots that complement a calm, mindful brewing ritual.
Why Clay?
- Heat-stable for consistent infusions.
- Character: can round off and deepen aromas.
- Perfect for gongfu brewing and multiple infusions.
Buying Guide
1) Use one pot per tea type
For some types of clay, it's wise to reserve one pot for one tea family, so flavors don't mix.
2) Combine with Chinese style
For a complete experience: check out Chinese teapots and combine with Chinese tea sets and small teacups.
3) Filter & pour clearly
Optionally use a tea strainer if you want to filter extra finely.
Maintenance Tips
- Preferably clean only with warm water (no soap), depending on the type of clay.
- Let dry thoroughly with the lid off.
- Avoid strong odors in the environment (clay can absorb odors).

How do I clean my teapot and accessories?
Maintenance advice:
- Rinse with lukewarm water after use and dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Porcelain / Glass / Stainless Steel: mild detergents only; light descaling (water + a little vinegar), then rinse thoroughly.
- Cast Iron (enameled): do not wash in dishwasher; avoid thermal shocks; dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
- Clay (Yixing type): rinse with clear water only (no detergent); use one teapot per tea type.
- Copper: interior tinned/stainless steel — rinse and dry immediately; polish exterior occasionally if desired.
Always consult the specific instructions on the product page if they differ.
How do I choose the right teapot?
The choice depends on the type of tea (green/white, oolong, black, pu-erh), the volume (solo, duo, family), and the material (neutral porcelain, visual glass, heat-retaining cast iron, clay for characterful tea, robust stainless steel).
